Destination Kosta - a crystal clear experience!
In the deep forests of Småland lies the small community of Kosta - right in the heart of the Glass Kingdom. Glass has been made here for generations, ever since 1742 when Kosta Glasbruk opened its doors. The idea for the glassworks was born as early as 1736, and construction began a few years later by the governors Anders Koskull and Georg Bogislaus Staël von Holstein. The name Kosta comes from the surnames of the two owners (KO + STA). The first glassblowers came from Thuringia in Germany, and to this day, the craft lives on in the glassworks - alongside modern design and world-class creativity.
Kosta has developed enormously in recent years and is today a place full of experiences. Here you can see glass take shape up close, try blowing glass yourself at Kosta Glascenter, experience art glass at Kosta Art Gallery, or stay at the unique Kosta Boda Art Hotel - a hotel in the sign of glass. For an even more nature-oriented stay, you can rent a glass house inside Kosta Safari Park and wake up with a view of the savannah animals.
Enjoy a drink in the Glass Bar - an underwater world in glass, have coffee at the bakery, try Småland's largest ice cream, locally brewed beer or our own gin. The surrounding nature invites you to go fishing, hiking, mountain biking adventures and safari tours among deer, bison and wild boar.
In the middle of this exciting area is Craft Arena - a modern and versatile sports and meeting facility covering 10,000 square meters. There is the A-hall with telescopic stands and space for 2,100 seated guests, as well as the B-hall, which has 16 fixed table tennis tables and 700 seats - making it Sweden's largest table tennis hall. In addition, the arena offers boules courts, paddle courts, a 200 square meter martial arts area and much more for those who want to move, compete or just have fun.
Kosta is the place where history meets the future - with glass art, nature, enjoyment and activity in perfect harmony.
Here is something for everyone!
