Moose
The moose is the largest animal in the Swedish forests. It is easy to recognise thanks to its size and distinctive appearance. Its large ears, large muzzle and chin beard, together with the characteristic hump at the withers, make it difficult to confuse with other animals. The coat can range from dark brown and almost black to light brown or grey. The legs are always light grey-white regardless of the colour of the coat. The moose weighs 200-550 kg, and can measure up to two metres at the withers. Bull moose are on average 20 per cent larger than cow moose, and are both taller and heavier, with coarser necks and larger chin beards.

Visent
Meet the mink that used to live wild in our Swedish forests. You will be able to observe the bison roaming throughout the safari park. So during your safari tour in the primeval forest, be observant so you do not drive past them when they stand among the tree trunks.
Kosta Safari Park cooperates with the European Bison Conservation Centre to protect the survival of the species.

Red deer
In the wild, red deer are very shy animals that are rarely encountered in daylight, but are mostly observed at dawn and dusk. However, inside the park, there is a good chance of encountering red deer at all hours of the day.

Fallow deer
The fallow deer is a very social animal that roams throughout the safari park. If the weather is nice, the fallow deer like to go out and lie down and sunbathe, then the clearings, south slopes and glades are excellent places to observe this beautiful game.

Mufflon sheep
The mouflon sheep, Europe's only wild sheep, can be seen throughout the park. The species is a mountain sheep that originates from the rocky islands of the Mediterranean. Unlike the other animals in the park, mouflons are diurnal.

Wild boar
The wild boar is a very shy and vigilant animal with a keen sense of smell and can detect the scent of a human being from almost 1 kilometre away if the wind is right. The wild boar has rather poor eyesight, but their hearing is very good.
GLASS HOUSES IN THE SAFARI PARK - A NATURE EXPERIENCE!
Our glass houses inside Kosta Safari Park stand on pillars four metres above the ground, allowing for accommodation high up in the air with almost full hotel standard. Closer to nature, without compromising on comfort, is harder to come by. Here it is possible to see the European bison, the stately red deer, the king of the forest moose, the curious fallow deer, mouflon sheep with their huge horns and the mischievous wild boars that roam freely in the large fenced park.
We have 2 sizes of houses, 15 and 30 square metres. Here you will also be able to organise conferences. The accommodation will be without electricity but with access to powerbanks for those who want.
The walls are partly made of wood, but the majority are glass walls that give an increased feeling of living close to nature. Despite the glass walls, it will still be an individual and private accommodation, without insight. Order catering/room service from Kosta Lodge and have your dinner delivered directly to your accommodation!
